Mrs. Nettie Bell “Polly” Hodges, age 91, of 101 Chandler Street in Tennille died Wednesday March 21, 2012 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23rd, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hodges was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late William Herman Kitchens and the late Annie Pearl Warren Kitchens. She was a former employee of the Royal Manufacturing Company and a homemaker. She was a member of the Tennille Church of God. Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her children, Richard Warren Hodges, William Ernest Hodges, Sr. and Gloria Deane Hodges Rowe and her brothers and sisters, Nancy Trudie Kitchens Lindsey, Horace Kitchens, J. D. Kitchens, Myrtle Mae Kitchens, Eula Kitchens, C. W. (Cluese) Kitchens, Margarette Kitchens May, Hilton Kitchens, Reba Kitchens Washam, Mary Frances Kitchens Marshall and Lee Arthur Kitchens.
Survivors are a daughter-in-law, Dorothy M. Hodges Ward and her husband Vonnie of Tennille, a sister, Bessie (Bell) Kitchens Anderson of Lawrenceville, three grandchildren, Mary Ellen Hodges Rogers and her husband Jeff of Tennille, Shelly Jean Hodges Lovett and her husband Harold of Morrow and William Ernest Hodges, Jr. of Milledgeville, eight great-grandchildren, Mary Beth Rogers of Wrightsville, Catherine Warren Rogers of Tennille, Nicole Lovett and Rebecca Lovett of Morrow, Georgia and Kim Marie Hodges Harrison, Sonya Lynn Hodges, Eric Dawayne Hodges and Jeffery Noah Hodges.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday.
