Mr. Nicholas Edge “Nick” Dixon Sr., of West Adams Street in Tennille, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Tennille Christian Church with burial in the Zeta Cemetery. Reverend William Moody will officiate. Pallbearers will be M. J. Dixon, Sonny Barkesdale, Tom Raines, Marion Meeks, Wayne Sheppard and Charles Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tennille Christian Church Board, Clyde Bland, Billy Duggan, Joe Kitchens and Jim Farmer.

Mr. Dixon was born in Atlanta on October 9, 1930 the son of the late Malcolm Rutherford Dixon and the late Elizabeth Morcock Dixon. He was a graduate of Southern Technical College. Mr. Dixon was the former co-owner and operator of Dixon and Meeks Tractor Company and in retirement continued his love of Agriculture as a sod farmer with his son William. Mr. Dixon was a long time active member of the Tennille Christian Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, member of the Church Board and a Deacon. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired Major with the Georgia National Guard. Mr. Dixon is predeceased by his son Nick Dixon Jr. and his brother Malcolm R. Dixon Jr.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Cook Dixon of Tennille and his son William M. Dixon of Blythe.

The family will be at the Dixon residence on West Adams Street in Tennille and they will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Donations may be made to the Tennille Christian Church, P.O. Box 275, Tennille, Ga. 31089 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
