Mrs. Nora Burgamy Anderson, age 79, of Tennille, passed away at Heritage Inn in Sandersville, following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Methodist Church in Warthen, with burial following in the church cemetery. Reverend Don Black and Reverend Dr. Brian Welch will officiate, and pallbearers will be Keith Everett, Jamie Reynolds, Ricky Sheppard, Gary Hinton, Mikey Hinton, Daniel Anderson, and Tory Mimbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Anderson, Bobby Anderson, and Carolyn Harrelson. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Warthen, the daughter of the late Alton Reece Burgamy and the late Alma Beulah Beasley Burgamy. She was a graduate of Washington County High School, and also held a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mrs. Anderson began her working career with the Georgia Department of Transportation, but later became a real estate agent, working for Century 21, and Town and Country Real Estate. Mrs. Anderson was a faithful member of Pine Hill Methodist Church, where she served as the church pianist for over 60 years, beginning at the age of 13. She was a fabulous baker, and her red velvet and caramel cakes were often requested. Mrs. Anderson co-owned the Fashion Gallery dress shop with her sister, Lavo Todd. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her siblings, Hubert Hawkins, B.C. Hawkins, Ernest Hawkins, Saxon Hawkins, Lamar Hawkins, Ray Hawkins, John Hawkins, Jake Hawkins, Lavo Todd, Gladys Holmes, Lonice Brady, and Sara Seabring.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Anderson; son, Charles Anderson and his wife Cheryl of Sandersville; daughter, Teresa Rhodes and her husband Ron of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Daniel Anderson and his wife Meredith, and Sydney Oliver and her husband Will; 3 great grandchildren; and sister, Edna Hinton of Thomson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Pine Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o/ Debra Everett, 1620 Ga. Hwy. 102, Warthen, GA 31094.
