Odelle Cook Tanner

Mrs. Odell Cook Tanner, age 96, of Sandersville, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Robert Wood and Danny Thomas will officiate. A graveside committal service will be held on Wednesday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Peninsula Memorial Garden Cemetery in Newport News, Virginia.

Mrs. Tanner was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Ellsberry Jordan Cook and the late Clara Belle Shurling Cook. She was a long time resident of Newport News Virginia where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Jackson’s Baptist Church in Washington County.

Survivors include: her children, Kathlyn T. Moore and her husband Billy of Dallas TX, Maggie Shurling of Sandersville, and Barry Tanner and his wife Anne of Newport News, VA; six grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 4th from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
