Opal Jones Vickery

Ms. Opal Jones Vickery, age 88, of Sandersville, died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Kendall Heights Church of God with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.

Reverends Stacey Williford and Bobby Williford will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Brian Vickery, Jason Vickery, Spencer Williford, Stanley Williford, Daniel Johnson, Rick Vickery, and Teddy Gibson.

Ms. Vickery was born in Anderson County, South Carolina, the daughter of the late John Henry Jones and the late Susie Katheryn Shiflet Jones. She was a homemaker and along with her husband, was the co-owner of the former Members Emergency Ambulance Service where she worked as a bookkeeper and dispatcher. Ms. Vickery was a member of the Kendall Heights Church of God and she is predeceased by her husband Inman Albert Vickery, her son Donnie Vickery and a granddaughter Tricia Bolman.

Survivors are: her children, Jonnie Smith and her husband Harold of Toccoa, Mavis Williford and her husband Wayne of Warthen, Roger Vickery and his wife Brenda of Sandersville, and Becky Cushman and her husband Danny of Thomson; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mavis and Wayne Williford on Mt. Zion Road in Warthen and they will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
