Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Ottis “Ott” Grady Stephens, age 83, of Louisville who died Monday evening, November 25, 2024.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, in the Louisville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Melchior, Rev. Brad Goodale, and Rev. Garland Hullender officiating. Pallbearers will be Robbie Brett, Randy Sharpe, Mike McDowell, Ross Davis, Bill Newsome, Frank Young, Jeff Franchiuser, John Murphy, and George Tedder. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Louisville First Baptist Church, members of the Co-ed Sunday School class, past and present employees of WPEH Radio, and the Board of Directors of Firstate Bank. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Ringgold, Georgia.


Ott, a native of Ringgold, was born September 21, 1941, a son of the late Roy L. Stephens and Birda L. Sloan Stephens. He was a 1959 graduate of Ringgold High School and was the owner and manager of Peach Broadcasting Company (WPEH Radio). Ott was a member of Louisville First Baptist Church for 65 years where he has served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and several other positions. He was also a member of Louisville Kiwanis Club and served as a director of Firstate Bank. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and coaching Little League Baseball and high school softball. He loved all types of music and hunting, but his greatest pastime was spending time with his family that he loved more than anything.


Ott was preceded in death by his parents Roy L. Stephens and Birda L. Sloan Stephens, brothers: Lebron J. Stephens and DeWayne E. Stephens and is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years: Sue Stephens; children: Angela Stephens Hullender (Garland) and Mark Alan Stephens (Jessica), both of Ringgold; GA, grandchildren: Macie Karenna Nichols (Adam) and Eric Tanner Stephens; brother: Wendell F. Stephens (Nancy); sister-in-law: Jerry B. O’Shields, and several nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.


The Stephens’ family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Louisville First Baptist Church, 101 E. 9th St., Louisville.


In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Louisville First Baptist Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital.


Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
