Patricia Hutcheson Willis

Mrs. Patricia Hutcheson Willis, age 67, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.  A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Sandersville, Georgia, with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Sheila Hunter will officiate. James Willis, Hodges Willis, Aaron Hutcheson, Thomas Willis, Mark Tyler, and Jared Lee will serve as pallbearers.

Patti was born and reared in Sandersville, the daughter of the late Thomas Aaron Hutcheson Sr. and the late Mary Patsy Hodges Hutcheson. She was a 1972 graduate of Washington County High School. Patti attended Clemson University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia with a degree in Physical Therapy and later obtained her master’s degree from Georgia State University.

Patti, along with her husband Jim, lived in the Atlanta area where they worked and raised five beautiful children.  Patti often claimed that each child represented another full-time job.  She spent her professional career as a licensed physical therapist, beginning her work with Northside Hospital in Atlanta. She later served as chair of the Department of Physical Therapy for Douglas General, and she currently practiced with Cadeuces Occupational Medicine. Patti served on the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapists where she served 10 years as board president. She also represented her state nationally on the board of National Physical Therapists.

In her community, Patti was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Stone Mountain where she was a former church deacon and the church's institutional representative for the Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active with the Dekalb Junior League. Patti's family was her greatest love and her favorite pastime was being together and especially traveling together.

Survivors are her loving husband of 37 years, James Truman "Jim" Willis of Stone Mountain; children, Patricia Louise Willis Tyler and her husband Mark of Ellabell, James Aaron Willis of Stone Mountain, Rebecca Belle Willis, Hodges Truman Willis and his fiancée Kayla Parham all of Sandersville, and Laura Elizabeth Willis of Buckhead; granddaughter, Ella Louise Tyler; brother, Tom Hutcheson Jr. and his wife Judy of Tennille.

The family will greet friends at the Hutcheson-Willis residence on Evergreen Drive, Sandersville on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
