Mrs. Patsy Redfern Brantley, age 82, of Warthen, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, November 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Warthen with burial in the church cemetery. Reverend Tim Powell and Reverend Bryce Jeffcoat will officiate. Lamar Helton, Ricky Haywood, Chris Yates, Jackson Tollison, Greg Peavy and Tony Lewis will serve as pallbearers. Deacons of Bethlehem Baptist Church along with Carl Cumming,and Jay Peavy will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Brantley was reared in Warthen, the daughter of the late Leroy “Buckshot” Redfern and the late Sarah Osborne Redfern. She attended school in Warthen and graduated from Sandersville High School, the year she married the love of her life Alfred Brantley at the age of 18. Patsy began a working career at Royal Manufacturing, and she also worked at Ideal Beauty Shop. Soon after she became a full-time homemaker and began doing what she always did best, caring for others. She loved to cook and was known for her divinity, pecan pies and cheese cookies all of which she proudly shared with family and friends. Her favorite hobbies were cross stitching and putting together puzzles. Feeding the hummingbirds and tending to her flowers were her best pastimes. Patsy was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as the church hostess and cherished decorating the sanctuary for Christmas. She is preceded in death by her sister, Lorene Lewis and nephew/son, Chris Redfern.
Survivors are her husband of 64 years, James Alfred Brantley; son, Greg Brantley and his wife Terri of Sandersville; granddaughter, Cierra Brantley; brother, Tommy Redfern and his wife Claire of Warthen; niece/daughter, Lori Redfern; great niece and nephew/grandchildren, Michaela Yates, Chris Yates; nieces & nephews, Pam Ricci, Tony Lewis, Lamar Helton and other cherished family members.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, October 31st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
