Mrs. Patsye Cooke Lord, age 70, of 7190 Linton Road, Sandersville, died Tuesday,
August 14, 2012, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17th, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with interment in the Brownwood Cemetery. Reverends Lee Lacey, Bruce Hardy, and Marlon Lastinger will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rob Hardy, Ben Hardy, William (Bill) Mallory, Mike Sheppard, Mark Harvey, Larry Mathis, Benny Avant, and Charles Lee.
Mrs. Lord was a native of Washington County, Georgia the daughter of the late Warren Marshall Cooke and the late Leona Sheppard Cooke. She was predeceased by a son, Troy Marshall Lord. She was a Graduate of Sandersville High School, Class of 1959. Early in her career she taught at Kollege for Kiddies, formerly the Mother Goose Kindergarten. Patsye was a self –employed decorator and gift shop owner of Silk Stocking Interiors, and she sketched, designed and marketed nineteen plates in her original Washington County Commemorative Plate Collection. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, and she was also a member of several clubs including the Sandersville Music Club and the Sorosis Club.
Survivors include her husband: Lester E. Lord; a son, Shane Lord and his wife Virginia of Sandersville; a daughter, Angela Lord of Shannon, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Anna Grace Lord and William (Will) Lord of Sandersville. She is also survived by a sister, Gwen Butler of Sandersville; sister-in-law, Bernice Lord, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Lord residence on Thursday, August 16th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
The family suggests donations be made to the Washington County Alzheimer’s Family Support Group, c/o Peggy Day, 6703 Highway 68 South, Tennille, Georgia 31089 or to the donor’s favorite charity in her memory.
