Paul C. Thompson

January 17, 1934 — December 30, 2014

Mr. Paul C. Thompson, age 80, of Sandersville, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene with burial at the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wilkinson County. Reverends Gary Mimbs, Danny Thomas, and Mike Bankston will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Logue, Russell Meeks, Robert Brown, David Bryant, Jeremy Lindsey, Micah Thonnesen, Dean Ennis and Walter Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Seekers Sunday School Class and the Wendy’s Breakfast Club.

Mr. Thompson was a native of Wilkinson County the son of the late Paul C. Thompson Sr. and the late Thelma Freeman Thompson. He spent his working career in the Kaolin Industry with Georgia Kaolin retiring as transportation manager. Mr. Thompson was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he taught Sunday School and where he was a former church board member. He also remained active with his home church Salem United Methodist Church in Wilkinson County. His faith, family and church were extremely important to him. He was a certified horse trainer and was a worldwide traveler with his soul mate, best friend and wife, Merlene.

Survivors are: his wife Merlene Kitchens Thompson of Sandersville, daughters, Vickie T. Lindsey and her husband Bruce of Dublin, Kathy T. May and her husband Ronnie of Warthen, Lisa T. Johnson and her husband Eric and Leigh Thompson-Johnson all of Sandersville. Grandchildren are Paul Jeremy Lindsey and his wife Kim of Macon, Jennifer Bryant and her husband David of Dexter, Miranda May of Augusta, Taryn Thonnesen and her husband Micah of Athens, Charles Moore of Virginia, Alyssa Johnson of Gray and Morgan Johnson of Augusta. Great grandchildren include Parker Bryant, Caleb Bryant, Aceia Moore and River Moore. He is also survived by his sister Judy Williams and her husband Gary of New Bern N.C.

The family will be at the Thompson residence on Riddleville Road in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
