Pauline Smith Joiner

March 7, 1914 — August 18, 2008

Mrs. Pauline Smith Joiner, age 94, of Tennille died Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Green Acres Nursing Home in Milledgeville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20th at 11:00 at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Rev. William Moody and Rev. William Neely will officiate.

Mrs. Joiner was born in Washington County the daughter of the late James Irwin Smith and the late Mattie Newsome Smith. She was a homemaker and long time member of the Tennille Christian Church. Mrs. Joiner was a member of the Tennille Women’s Club, the Jared Irwin Chapter of the DAR and was the co-founder of the Colby Smith Reunion. Mrs. Joiner's husband James Estill Joiner and her daughter Rosemary Joiner Hanks predecease her.

Survivors are her grandchildren, Rebecca Jones McCoy (Lindsay) of Milledgeville, Jonnie Hanks Whiteside (Charles) of Smyrna, and Thomas J. Hanks of Wilmington DE, son-in-law John T. Hanks also of Wilmington DE, sister-in-law Lois Smith of Tennille and great grandchildren Ryan McCoy and Brittany McCoy.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 am until the time of service Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to the Green Acres Nursing Home Resident’s Special Interest Fund, 313 Allen Memorial Dr., Milledgeville, GA. 31061.

May and Smith Funeral Directors of Sandersville is in charge of these arrangements.
