Mrs. Pearl Baker Hattaway, age 95, passed away Monday, October, 24, 2022 at Washington County Extended Care Facility following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, October 27 th at 11:00 a.m. in Memorial Gardens, Sandersville. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.
Mrs. Hattaway was born and reared in Santa Anna, Texas, the daughter of the late Silas Baker and the Viola Willis Baker. She graduated from high school and met her future husband, Roy Hattaway, while he was serving in the military and stationed in Brownwood, Texas. Mrs. Hattaway relocated to Sandersville where she began a career as a seamstress working for Royal Manufacturing and William Carter Company. She was a member of Sisters Baptist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday School. Mrs. Hattaway’s passion was fishing and she also loved sewing and crocheting. Shopping was also one of her favorite things to do and she was known to be one of the best “bargain hunters” around.
Survivors include her children, Roy Gene Hattaway and his wife Peggy of Harrison, Sue King of Warner Robins and Cathy Logue and her husband George of Sandersville; grandchildren, Troy Lindsey, Kevin Lindsey, Michael Hattaway and his wife Amy, Christi Kevern and her husband Chris, Adam Smith and his wife Heather, Becky Summy and her husband Daniel and David Smith and his wife Joni; Thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
