Mrs. Polly Channell, age 87, of 4115 Highway 68 South in Tennille died Monday night April 4, 2011 in the Dublin Veterans Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday April 7 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. Darell Young and Rev. Andy Yates will officiate with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Pallbearers will be John Duggan, Rabon Horton, Wade Brown, Harry Strickland, Carl Forrester, Andy Yates, Gene Davis and Johnny Grice.
Mrs. Channell was a native of Pungo, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Willie Craft and the late Ruth Allen Craft. She was the wife of the late Leonard Channell. Mrs. Channell was a retired supervisor with the Royal Manufacturing Company and a homemaker. She was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. She was a member of the Tennille Baptist Church, the Women’s Missionary Union and the Tennille Woman’s Club. Mrs. Channell was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Channell and a grandson, Andy Channell.
Survivors are her sons, Harold Channell and his wife Jean of Wrightsville, Bruce Channell and his wife Glenda of Ellijay, four grandchildren, Mike Channell, Chris Channell, Cameron Channell and Alexander Channell, eight great grandchildren, Brandon Channell, Seth Channell, Makayla Channell, Hayden Channell, Lindsey Sills, Chris Channell, Jr., Olivia Channell and Evan Channell.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville on Thursday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service.
