Mr. Ralph Raleigh Brown, age 84, of 740 East McCarty Street in Sandersville died on Monday December 29 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday January 1 in the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. Marlon Lastinger and Rev. Lee Lacey will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Chad Kicklighter, Chasen Smith, Cyle Brown, Cody Smith, B. L. Brown, Danny Brown and Carl Brown.
Mr. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late James Mansfield Brown and the late Mattie McCoy Brown. He was the husband of the late Julia Peavy Brown and was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Brown and his brothers, W. M. Brown, Cecil Brown, Charles Brown, James Brown and Rex Brown. Mr. Brown was a retired cable repairman for Southern Bell with 37 years of service. He was the former owner of Brown’s Curb Market, Brown’s Charcoal Grill and Brown’s Bakery. He attended the First Baptist Church of Sandersville. He was a member and former Deacon of Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Brown was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors are his three daughters, Cynthia Brown Parker and her husband Lee of Sandersville, Connie B. Brown of Sandersville and Cheryl Brown Smith and her fiancé Danny Lewis of Sandersville, six grandchildren, Chad Kicklighter, Rebecca Brantley, Chasen Smith, Cyle Brown, Cody Smith and Cera Brown, three great grandchildren, Cathryn Kicklighter, Camryn Kicklighter and Nicholas Brantley.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 6:30 P. M. on Wednesday.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
