Ralph Everett Smart

Mr. Everett Smart, age 91, of Mt. Gilead Road, Tennille, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his residence on Saturday, July 25, 2026. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church on Harts Ford Road south of Tennille. Rev. Dr. Brant Kennedy will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Rusty Aikens, Barrett Tatum, Caleb Smart, Jonathan Smart, Matt Daniel and Dwayne Sammons will all serve as pallbearers. Family will greet friends on Monday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home. 

Ralph Everett Smart was born in Waycross, GA. and reared in Tennille, GA. where he graduated from Tennille High School. His early working career was in the Kaolin Industry for Thiele Kaolin Company. Later he and Eleanor moved to Decatur, GA. where he began a long career with Commercial Cold Storage where he retired as a company manager. They retired home to Washington County where Everett enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering around the farm. Everett was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife Eleanor J. Smart of Tennille; children, Lanny Smart and his wife Leslie also of Tennille and Cherie S. Clark and her husband C.L. of Sandersville; grandchildren, Scarlett Clark, Taylor Brown and her husband Garret, Jonathan Smart and Caleb Smart, great grandchildren, Londyn, Rowen, Evelyn, Emmie and Conner and his brother David Allen Smart of Holly Hill, S.C.
