Ramus Guy Freeman

Reverend Ramus Guy Freeman, age 89, of Tennille, went to his Heavenly home, Sunday, March 26, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 30 at Tennille United Methodist Church with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Dr. George Freeman and Reverend Randall Smith will officiate.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Brandon Freeman, Jim Freeman, Scott Freeman, Will Freeman, Charlie Watson and John Watson.

Reverend Freeman was a native of Washington County, the son of the late Lester Freeman and the late Ollie Ross Freeman. He was predeceased by his son, Robbie Lamont Freeman, two brothers, Lester Monroe Freeman and Maynard Freeman, and grandson, Sean Freeman.

After graduation from high school, Mr. Freeman attended Mercer, Georgia Teachers College, Georgia Southern College and Auburn University. He was licensed to preach on May 23, 1944. He officially retired in June 1986, but continued to preach until June 2007. He served twenty-one appointments including fifty-five churches. Mr. Freeman was involved in Town and County Church Program of the South Georgia Conference and southeastern Jurisdiction for many years.

Survivors are his wife of 70 plus years, Betty Sellers Freeman of Tennille; two daughters, Karen Watson and her husband Glenn of Bonaire and Kristi Fuss and her husband Scott of Covington; son, Stephen Freeman and his wife Sallie of Woodstock; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; daughter in law, Pennie Freeman of Tampa, FL.; sister, Catherine Freeman Orr and her husband Charles of Tennille; two brothers, Dr. G. Ross Freeman of Conyers and Oran Freeman and his wife Sara of Riverdale; and sister in law, Martha Freeman of Knoxville, TN.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

The family suggest donations be made to Tennille United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 265, Tennille, Ga. 31089.
