Ray Henry Moon Sr.

Mr. Ray Henry Moon Sr., age 80, of Warthen, died Sunday, January 01, 2012 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4th at 2:00pm at the Union Baptist Church with burial in the Piney Mount United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Robert Cash will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ray Moon III, James Moon, Bobby Moon, Lindsey Moon, Jimmy Lewis and Donald Lewis.

Mr. Moon was born in Jefferson County the son of the late John Pirkle Moon and the late Annie Lindsey Moon. He was a retired supervisor for the JP Stephens Company in Milledgeville. Mr. Moon was a member of the Ohoopee Baptist Church and he attended the Union Baptist Church. He was a paratrooper serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Moon is predeceased by his wife Laverne Moon.

Survivors are; his son, Ray H. Moon Jr. (Bonnie) of Warthen, grandchildren, Ray H. Moon III (Jennifer) of Milledgeville, James Walker Moon of St. Louis MO., Bobby Christopher Moon, Michael Lindsey Moon and Makayla Amithy-Cora Moon all of Warthen, and sisters Juanita M. Feagin, Lillian M. Stuckey and Jean M. Houston all of Dublin.

The family will be at the Moon residence 579 Union Church Rd. Warthen and they will receive friends from 1pm until the hour of service Wednesday at the Church.
