Mrs. Reba L. Scott, age 98, of Riddleville passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Jason Loggins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Scott, Tommy Scott, Stanley Garner, Tony French, Wesley Sheppard, and Brian Curtiss.
Mrs. Scott was born in Sylvania, the daughter of the late John Bishop and the late Mattie Stewart Bishop. Her father was a private in Co. F, 1 st Regiment (Hagoods) of the Infantry for the State of South Carolina during the Civil War. Because of her father’s service Mrs. Scott was a Real Daughter and Founding Member of the Ladies of the Plains 2696, of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Scott was also a “Rosie Riveter” at the Savannah Shipyard during World War II. It was during her time at the shipyard that she met her husband, the late Wylie Clifford Scott. During her life she also enjoyed putting puzzles together, finding and trying out new recipes, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was a member of Sister’s Baptist Church, where she enjoyed spending time with the “Senior Group.” In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by her stepchildren, Billy Scott, and Carolyn Southerland; grandson, Michael Southerland; and sisters, Pat Poppell and Lucille Arata.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her daughter, Linda Scott Curtiss and her husband Brian of Auburn, Kansas; sons, Jerry Daniel Scott and his wife Diane of Stephensville, and Thomas Clifford Scott and his wife Donna of Riddleville; grandchildren, Jason Scott, Terri Garner, Stanly Garner, Thomas Scott, Jr., Jennifer Taylor, Jessica Lavin, Allanna Harrison, Debbie Bucanan, Pat May, Bill Scott, Jr., Taylor Scott, Bobby Southerland, David Southerland, Steven Southerland, Eric Southerland, and Vickie Balberede; 23 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
