Mr. Richard Larimore, age 65, of Gainesville, Georgia, gained his Heavenly Wings on Friday, October 29, 2021. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his children and granddaughter.
Richard, better known as Rick, was born November 23, 1955, in Milledgeville, Georgia, to the late Mary Helen Hadden. Raised by grandparents, the late John & Bessie Larimore.
Rick grew up on Panther Branch Road in Sandersville, Georgia. He attended Washington County Schools until he graduated in 1973. He shared many childhood stories with his children, from adventures in the woods to running “shine” with his grandma on Panther Branch. As an adult, Rick spent most of his career working on various golf courses. His Associates Degree in Horticulture, landed him a variety of jobs from Supervisor to a golf course Superintendent. Rick retired at the age of 62 and spent his last years doing whatever pleased him. He left behind four living children, along with many others, that adored him and will miss him greatly. His love for his family and friends was abundant. He had a smile and laughter that was contagious. He was temperamental and had strong set of values. He loved watching sports and it was obvious to others he thought he was a referee as he yelled at the television. One of his favorite pastimes was taunting Bessie and Hunter during and after games. He occasionally would make a bet or 2 with them on who would win. He passed his love for riding dirt roads and listening to an array of music to daughters, Baylee and Sheena. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, Rick spent most of his time with his children making sure to keep them on their toes. He was not technology savvy so when he gained over 1,100 followers on Tik-Tok he was elated. Social media allowed him the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and Jesus. He frequented Facebook to keep up with the daily tea.
In addition to his grandparents and mother, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Godfrey Jr. and John Hadden Jr., as well as an uncle, John “Bo” Larimore, and two nephews taken too soon. A special mention goes out to Rick’s dearly departed four-legged best friend also referred to as his favorite child, Max Larimore. Rick is survived by 4 children Sheena, Bessie, Hunter (girlfriend Kaitie), and Baylee Larimore; his adoring and beloved granddaughter Chloe Larimore, sister Deborah Godfrey-O’Neal, brother Bobby Godfrey, bonus granddaughter Laynee Brookins and two very devoted friends Jaime Garner Smith and Raven Davis. This is to include a host of relatives and friends not mentioned.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday afternoon, November 5, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at 259 CB Club Road, Sandersville, GA.
