Mr. Robert William Holtapp, Sr., age 69, of 1600 Plantation Drive in Sandersville died Sunday, June 2, 2013, in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 5th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Lamar Brantley, Reverend Danny Rountree and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ken Mathis, Tony Mathis, Kevin Dominy, Jordan Giddens, Paul Kitchens, Derek Mock, Eric Holtapp, Tim Blue and Chuck Wright.
Mr. Holtapp was a native of Aurora, Illinois, the son of the late George Mervin Holtapp and the late Marcille Knott Holtapp. He was predeceased by his sisters, Joan Baity and Sherry Giddens and his brother, Gene Holtapp. Mr. Holtapp was a retired superintendent with Lapp Insulator Company. He attended the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene and was a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors are: his wife of forty-five years, Connie McCoy Holtapp of Sandersville; a son, Robert William Holtapp, Jr. and his wife Leigh of Sandersville; a daughter, Monica Michelle Holtapp of Sandersville; three grandchildren, Will Holtapp, Drew Holtapp and Katie Holtapp; a brother, Lanny Holtapp of Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
The family suggests donations be made to the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 316 East South Central Avenue , Tennille, Georgia 31089 or the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, P. O. Box 801, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
