Robert Sidney Stokely, Sr.

Mr. Robert Sidney Stokely, Sr., age 92, of Highway 102 in Warthen died Saturday, November 9th, in the Heritage Inn in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 11th, in the Pine Hill United Methodist Church near Warthen with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. The Reverend Don Black and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Taylor Everett, Dillon Everett, Robert Clifford Sheppard, Jr., Charles Burgamy, Ricky Sheppard, and David Anderson.

Mr. Stokely was a native of Crawford County, Georgia. He was the son of the late John B. Stokely and the late Pearl Johnson Stokely. He was preceded in death by his sons, John David Stokely and Robert S. Stokely, Jr. He had resided in Washington County for the past twenty five years. Mr. Stokely was a retired insurance agent with the National Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the Pine Hill United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58 and a member of the Twin City Country Club where he loved to play golf. Mr. Stokely was a World War II Army Veteran.

Survivors are his wife, Catherine H. Stokely of Warthen; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Pine Hill United Methodist Church from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Monday.

The family suggests donations be made to the Pine Hill United Methodist Church, 2102 Bay Springs Road, Warthen, Georgia 31094.
