Robert Hudson Young Jr.

Mr. Robert H. “Bobby” Young Jr., age 88, of Tennille, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20th at 11:00am at the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Charles Young, Emory Young, Bob West, Frank Young Jr., William Young and Robby Young.

Mr. Young was born Washington County the son of the late Robert Hudson Young Sr. and the late Lila Mae Cochran Young. He was an educator beginning his career in Waycross in 1951 and retiring as principal of Tennille Elementary School in 1987. He possessed a great passion for children. Mr. Young was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed fishing, carpentry and playing cards with family and friends. He was an active member of the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church and a former of member of the Tennille Rotary and Washington County Civitan Clubs. Mr. Young was an US Army Veteran serving his country during WWII.

Survivors are; his wife Ellen Tapley Young and his daughter Paula Young both of Tennille, one granddaughter Kelly S. (Jess) Anderson of Monticello, one great grandson Hudson Flynn Anderson and his brother Charles B. (Donna) Young of Rock Springs.

The family will receive friends at the Young residence on Tennille-Oconee Road, Tennille, on Sunday from 3 to 5pm and also following the funeral service at Mt. Gilead Church.

Donations may be made to the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Mr. Young, 154 Mt. Gilead Church Rd. Tennille, GA. 31089.
