Ronald W Brookins

Mr. Ronald “Ron” W. Brookins, age 75 of Sandersville, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville. Reverend Nathan Hodges will officiate.

Ron was born on January 9, 1946, in Washington County, the son of the late Carl Vinson Brookins, Sr. and the late Dorothy Mae Brantley Brookins. He was a member of the Washington County High School graduating class of 1964. Ron, a hard worker, began his working career with AIC after high school, and was employed there for 15 years. He then went to work with YKK in Macon, where he was tasked with opening new facilities in various locations, which led to his relocation to Knoxville, Tennessee. After returning to Sandersville, Ron worked for Lamar Tanner for several years. Ron was a “jack of all trades,” and truly enjoyed working with his hands. He was proud of his children and grandchildren. Ron was a member of Oconee Church of God. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Perkins; grandparents, Newman and Marie Blount Brookins, and Don and Dovie Brantley; and sister, Mary Ellen Morris.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Tina Pinion (Andy) and Danielle Ivey (Todd); his son, Shane Brookins; his loving partner, Carolyn Sullivan and her daughter Donna; brother, C.V. Brookins (Florence); sisters, Shelia Bridges (Glenn), and Faye Robinson; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 13 at May and Smith Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
