Mrs. Kattie Rosalind Brantley Veal, age 83, of Tennille, died on Saturday, June 23, 2018, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 26 at Bethesda Christian Church with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Scott Veal, Mr. Larry Orr and Reverend Phil Mills will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kevin Meadows, Travis Williford, Ryan Veal, John McDonald III, Lewis Watkins, Matthew Yates and Michael Yates.
Mrs. Veal was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Roy Brantley and the late Mabel Phillips Brantley. She was the wife of the late Gene Alex (G.A.) Veal. Mrs. Veal was a homemaker until the time of her husband’s death. After her husband’s death she worked as Manager of David’s Jewelry, B.C. Moore’s and she also worked as a para pro for the Washington County Board of Education until retirement. She was a member of Bethesda Christian Church. Mrs. Veal was preceded in death by brother, Lee Roy Brantley, sister-in-laws, Bobbie Brantley and Gail Veal, and brother-in-laws, Owen Adams Jr., Clifton Veal and Morris Yates III.
Survivors are her children, Larry Gene Veal of Tennille, Joan Veal McDonald (Johnny) Tennille, West Veal (Wanda) of Tennille, Ceresa Veal Parker (Bobby) of Gibson, and Alex Veal, Jr.(Barbara) of Tennille; grandchildren, Amy V. Meadows (Kevin), Laura V. Williford (Travis), Ryan Veal (Megan), John McDonald III (Christina), Brittney P. Watkins (Lewis), and Falyn Parker; step grandchildren, Tara Avant and Michelle Shaw; and eleven great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Annette Brantley McEachin of Swainsboro, Alfred Brantley(Patsy)of Warthen, J. M. Brantley of Statesboro, Catherine Brantley Adams of Tennille, Louise Brantley Hutcheson (Frankie) of Milledgeville, Lester Brantley of Warthen, Charlene Brantley Goss of Savannah, Linda Brantley Helton (Bernard III) of Warthen and Howard Brantley(Susan) of Sandersville; sister in laws, Margaret Brantley of Savannah, Martha Yates Darity (John) of Tennille; and brother in law, Ted Veal (Theresa) of Sandersville.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday.
