Mr. Roy B. Everett Jr., age 84, of Deepstep, died Friday, September, 2, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Deepstep United Methodist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Paul Harris, Reverend Larry Giles and Reverend Jason McClendon will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Allen Everett, Keith Everett, Adrian Ashley, Lee Harris, C.T. Harris Jr., Michael Harris, James Harris, Howard Veal, Cecil Corbett Jr., and Ryan Hood.
Mr. Everett was a native of Washington County, Georgia, the son of the late Roy Bernard, Sr. and the late Mary Frances Giles Everett. Mr. Everett graduated from Sandersville High School in 1950 and began working with David Avant, Sr. in construction work. He served in the United States Armed forces from April 1951 until April 1955. During that time, he served in Korea from October 1951 to March 1955. He was self-employed in building construction and farming. He retired as Preventative Maintenance Manager with C.T. Harris, Inc., in Deepstep, Georgia. He was an active member of the Deepstep United Methodist Church, where he served many years as a Trustee and helped build the Deepstep parsonage. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and a love for baseball.
Mr. Everett is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Godfrey Everett of Deepstep; children, Dianne E. Jolley and her husband Tommy of Deepstep, Kenneth W. Everett and his wife Allison of Milledgeville, Bruce R. Everett of Macon, and Stacy L. Everett and his wife Tammy of Deepstep; grandchildren, Brad T. Jolley and his wife Faren of Nashville TN., Brittany J. Archer and her husband Ben, Sara Ashley Everett all of Milledgeville, Kacey E. Brown and her husband Blake of Jacksonville NC., Austin Everett of Milledgeville, and Kinsley F. Everett of Deepstep; brothers, Ostell Everett and his wife Eva Dell, Lamar E. Everett and his wife Joan all of Sandersville, and Lester Everett and his wife Betty of Warthen; sisters, Ethel E. Ashley and her husband Donald of Sandersville and Corilla E. Weaver of Macon and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the Everett residence on Old Eighty-Five Road in Deepstep and will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
