Roy L. Kirkland

Mr. Roy L. Kirkland, age 93, of Sandersville passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Heritage Inn. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church. Reverend Tony Mimbs and Reverend Frank Appel will officiate, and burial will follow in Davisboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Ethridge, Joel Ethridge, Trystan Kirkland, Justin Cook, Doug Park, and Robert Whitehead. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Kirkland was born in Blakely, Georgia, the son of the late Eford Kirkland and the late Emma Lou Martin Kirkland. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Kirkland worked for the city of Orlando, Florida, delivered milk and ice cream for Borden’s, and spent most of his working career in the foliage business working for Hogshead Nursery. He loved to joke and have a good time, and he never met a stranger; simply put Mr. Kirkland loved people. He also enjoyed collecting coins and eating at Popeye’s. Above all else Mr. Kirkland loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kirkland is preceded in death by his siblings, Thelma Springer, Woodrow Kirkland, Milford Kirkland, Loyce Rowland, Ellaree Welch, and Joann Bunn.

Mr. Kirland is survived by his wife, Katrina Mulkey Kirkland of Ocoee, Florida; daughters, Sandra Graham (Donald) of Rentz, Lisa Kelly (David) of Sandersville, and Angela Williams (David) of Ocoee, Florida; sons, Randy Kirkland (Tracey) and Wally Gold (Karlie) both of Tennille; grandchildren, Johnathon Ethridge, Joel Ethridge, Ashley Everett, Amber Cook, Tiffany Tanner, K. Angelique Rozelle, Jessica Whitehead, Courtney Kirkland, Trystan Kirkland, Haley Gold, Katie Gold and Wrynn Gold; and great grandchildren, John Henery Ethridge, Annalise Rose Ethridge, Natalee Lynn Ethridge, Bree Park, Riley Cook, Aubree Cook, Blakely Tanner and Gracelynn Park,  Amelia Park and Mylee Faithe Smith.
