Elder Rufus Currell Brantley, age 94 of Stockbridge, died Thursday, September 13, 2018. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Rock Springs Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jerry Hunt and Elder Herbert Newsome officiating; family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 5-7 P.M. at May and Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 11 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tennille, GA.
Elder Brantley served as Pastor for several Primitive Baptist Churches in Georgia and Alabama. He was a member and Pastor for Rock Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the recipient of 3 purple hearts, received a Battlefield Commission under General George Patton and an Army Commendation Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus S. and Annie Lee Brantley; brothers, James, Dan, and Charles.
He is survived by his nieces, Diane (Steve) Coffee, Connie (Joe) Pearson, Cheryl (Jeff) Hammen, Melanie (Charles) Holt and numerous cousins
