Russell Conger

Mr. Thomas Russell Conger, age 43 of Oconee, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee. Reverend Gary Yonce and Reverend Emory Anderson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jordan Davis, Dalton Davis, Jesse Mullis, Christopher Mullis, Aaron Mullis, Jacob Mullis, and Dalton Davis. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Russell was born on March 2, 1980, in Augusta, Georgia. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a graduate of Washington County High School. He was a hard worker who possessed a brilliant mind, a generous spirit, and a tender heart. Russell enjoyed working with and collecting tools and he also enjoyed collecting rocks. He had a great sense of humor and charismatic charm. Russell was a friend to all who knew him.

Russell is survived by his wife, Sarah Louise Adams Conger; son, Alan Russell Conger, of Oconee; parents, Alan and Robin Conger of Oconee; sisters, Laura Reynolds and her husband Thomas of Harlem, and Mandy Heckathorn and her husband Daniel of Morriston, FL; niece, Ella Grace Reynolds; nephews, Elliot and Emmett Reynolds; uncles, Michael, Larry, and David Cooper; mother in law, Teresa Barlow and her husband Kenny; and sister in law, Nikki Evans.
