Ruth Blount Dollar

Mrs. Ruth Blount Dollar, age 94, of 436 Morningside Drive, Sandersville, Georgia passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Tennille Retirement Home after an extended illness.

Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Brownwood Cemetery, Sandersville, Georgia. Reverend Jared Middleton will officiate. The family will receive friends after the Graveside Service.

Mrs. Dollar was born in Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Cecil (Pete) Odell Blount Sr. and Annie Mae Hodges Blount. She was also predeceased by her husband of 42 and ½ years, Billy Marion Dollar; her two sisters, Alice Faye Blount and Margaret Blount Boyd; two brothers, John Cecil Blount, Cecil Odell Blount, Jr and James Donald “Duck” Blount.

Mrs. Dollar graduated from Tennille High School in 1949. In her early yeas she worked at Geo. D. Warthen Bank, the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 24 years, Hutcheson and Wynne for 2 years and later retired from Washington County Regional Medical Center in Medical Records, after 15 years of dedicated service. After retiring she worked at Citizens Bank for a few more years.

She was a faithful member of Sandersville Methodist Church, the SMC Mamie Tarbutton Circle and the SMC Friendship Fellowship Group.

When you saw or talked to Ruth, she always had a smile on her face, a chuckle that would make you laugh and through all her adversities, she would always face them with a positive outlook. She enjoyed working in her yards until she could no longer do it. You could always find her working in her word find books.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Dollar Kent (Randy) of Davisboro, Georgia, and Michael Tony Dollar (Carol Ann) of Sandersville, Georgia; Grandchildren, Stephanie Kent Patterson and Bradford (Brad) Hall Kent (Lauren), Zachery Michael Dollar (Savannah) and Matthew Dale Dollar (Michi); Great-Grandchildren, Jacob Robert Patterson, Haleigh Elizabeth Patterson, Addie Jean Kent, William (Will) Randall Kent and a future Great-Grandchild, William Levy Dollar, due August 2026. She was affectionately known to her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren as “Granny” or “Granny Ruth.”

The family wishes to thank the staff of Tennille Retirement Home and Swainsboro Pruitt Hospice for their kindness and support during Mrs. Dollar’s illness.

The family will be at the Dollar residence at 436 Morningside Drive, Sandersville, Georgia.
