Mrs. Ruth Bridges Hammock, age 94, of Riddleville, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at New Bethel Baptist Church with burial in Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville. Reverend Marty Deal and Reverend Michael Bailey will officiate. The family will greet friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00p.m.
Mrs. Hammock was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Kenchie Bridges and the late Addie Roberson Bridges. She attended school in Riddleville and soon after marred her husband John Thomas "J.T." Hammock who predeceases her. She began her working career as a seamstress for Apparel Craft in Wrightsville. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her family and enjoying gardening, working in her yards and cooking. Mrs. Hammock was a longtime member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She cherished time spent with family, especially sitting in her rocker watching grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her siblings, Billy Bridges, Jackie Mimbs and Gay Johnson and granddaughter, Angela Farmer Woods all predecease her.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane B. Farmer and her husband Donald; grandson, Eric Farmer and his wife Ashlee; great grandchildren, Kinlee Farmer and Kohen Farmer; and brother, Bobby Bridges and his wife Patsy; sister-in-law Princine Bridges; and several nieces and nephews.
