Ruth Smart Jones

Mrs. Ruth Smart Jones, age 90, of Tennille, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18th, at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The Reverend Griffin Thompson will officiate.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Washington County the daughter of the late Edward Smart and the late Nannie Lou Everett Bray. She was a retired seamstress from the William Carter Company and she was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. She is predeceased by her husband, A.V. Jones, Jr.; her daughter, Dianne J. Thompson; her sons, Vick Jones III and Tommy Jones; and her grandson, Scotty Thompson, Jr.

Survivors include her son, Carl H. Jones and his wife Iris of Martinez; three grandchildren, Jennifer M. Wells and her husband Mitch of Augusta; Shannon T. Epperson and her husband Chris of Conway, AR; and Steven B. Jones of Augusta; five great-grandchildren, Parker Epperson, Christopher Epperson, Cody Cullens, Damian Thompson and Brennan Bloodsworth; brothers, David Smart of Holly Hill, SC, and Everett Smart and his wife Eleanor of Tennille; sisters, Sarah Fletcher and Margaret Fletcher both of Valdosta; and a son-in-law, Scott Thompson and his wife Kathleen of Deepstep.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
