Samuel Leroy Lewis

November 8, 1937 — January 11, 2018

Mr. Samuel Leroy Lewis, age 80, of Sparta died on Thursday, January 11, 2018, in a Macon hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 14, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Warthen with burial in Bethlehem Church Cemetery.  Reverend Tim Powell will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Jeff Chandler, Craig Stewart, Brian Shelton, Stephen Ricci, London Shelton, Levi Ricci, Jon- Alston Lewis, Greg Brantley, Roger Culver and Gary Lewis, Jr.

Mr. Lewis was a native of Hancock County, the son of the late Hugh Alexander Lewis and the late Sarah Lucinda Chamberlin Lewis.  He was the husband of the late Lorene Redfern Lewis and the brother of the late Martha Lewis Ouimette. Mr. Lewis was a retired carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a barber for over fifty years.  He served in the United States Air Force and the Georgia National Guard.  Mr. Lewis was a member of Cadillac Cowboys Band playing drums, trumpet and harmonica.  He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a former member of the Sparta Civitan Club.

Survivors are his daughter, Pamela Kaye Lewis Ricci and her husband Frank of Sparta; son, Anthony Leroy Lewis and his wife Sharon of Warthen; grandchildren, Jessica Leigh Lewis, JonAlston Lewis, Amanda Nicole Stewart and her husband Craig, Courtney Shelton and her husband Brian, Tommy Ricci, Jammie  Ricci, Gabrielle Ricci, Mandi Ricci, Denise Ricci Frost and her husband Avery, Patty Ricci, Stephen Ricci, Levi Ricci, Wyatt Ricci, Alexis Ricci, Michael Ricci and Allison Ricci;  great grandchildren, London Shelton, Whitman Shelton, Bentley Frost, Karson Frost, Dillon Castle and Easton Castle; sisters, Dorothy Harrouk and her husband Farouk of Sparta, Sarah Lucessi of Massachusetts and Barbara Ann Warren of Franklin NC;  brothers, James Miles Lewis and his wife Catherine of Thomaston, Hugh Lewis and his wife Alma of Macon and Gary Lewis and his wife Gertrude of Sparta.

The family will greet friends after the service at the church.
