Mr. Samuel Max Woodard, age 87, of Davisboro, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, following an extended illness. A graveside memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January17th at 2:00 p.m. in Davisboro City Cemetery.  Reverend Ron Dixon will officiate.  Mr. Woodard's family will receive friends at graveside.

Sam Woodard was born and reared in Davisboro, son of the late Noah Woodard and the late Haddie Smith Woodard.  Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served a distinguished career, retiring after 20 plus years of service to his Country.  Following his military service he returned to Washington County.  His lifelong love of reading inspired him to create Woodards Book Store, in which he owned and operated on the square downtown Sandersville.  Sam was a member of the Davisboro United Methodist Church, and he is predeceased by his wife Jane McNeely Woodard.

Survivors include his children, John Woodard and his wife Maryann of Virginia, Michael Woodard and his wife Annabell of Idaho and Wanda Palmer of Davisboro, GA.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his brother, Allan Woodard and his wife Carol of Washington, GA.
