Mrs. Sandra Clark Burns, age 77, of Warthen, died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Her family will greet friends following the service at the Funeral Home.
Sandra was reared in Jenkins County Georgia, the daughter of the late Elwood Lainer Clark and the late Sadie Raley Clark. She graduated from Jenkins County High School and attended community college where she obtained a business degree. Sandra began her working career while living in Sandersville and working at Washington Manufacturing prior to Childre Chevrolet. Sandra was a longtime resident of Long Beach NC where she worked in law enforcement. She served her community as an Emergency Medical Technician, a dispatcher, and a Sergeant Road officer. In 2001, Sandra returned to Washington County to be near family and worked as a tax specialist and managed the local H & R Block. Some of Sandra's greatest joy's where fishing, cooking, reading, and working cross word puzzles. She cherished her family and her beloved pets.
Survivors include her children, Melissa Brown of Warthen and Blaine Byrd of Wilmington, NC.; grandchildren, Brianna Brown and her spouse Stephanie, Jodie Brown and her fiancé Heather, Braxton Byrd and Carlos Turner; great grandchildren, Hunter Marshall, Carmen Marshall, Bentley Marshall-Brown; and her beloved pet dog, Baby Girl.
