Mrs. Sara Bell Bridges, age 96, of 1737 Green Acres Drive in Vidalia died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Mrs. Bridges is a native of Sandersville where she retired in 1986 after a career as a media consultant with the Georgia Department of Education’s Regional Educational Services Agency. She graduated from the Women’s College of Georgia and had advanced degrees from Emory University and the University of Georgia. She was an avid coin collector and was a member of the Transylvania Club of Sandersville. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.I. (Spud) Bridges, Jr. of Sandersville and her step-son, Henry Irwin Bridges III of Seneca, SC.
She is survived by her two step-daughters, Anne Fowler and her husband, Zack, of Vidalia and Jane Frisbie and her husband, Rick, of Tucker; grandchildren Hank Bridges of Baton Rouge, Jeff Fowler of Houston, Josh Fowler of Waycross, and Elizabeth Pedrotti of Houston; great-grandchildren Payton and Gabriel Bridges, both of Baton Rouge, and Alex, Sam, and Jack Fowler of Houston; brother Clifford Bell of Sky Valley, NC and daughter-in-law Marjorie Bridges of Seneca.
Memorial services will be held Monday, June 3 at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Vidalia at 10:30 a.m. and at the Grace Episcopal Church in Sandersville at 3:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held at the churches one-half hour before the services. Interment will follow at Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia, and May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville are in charge of the arrangements.
