Mrs. Sara Lanthrip Giles age 81, of Sandersville, died on Saturday, July 7, 2018, in Dublin following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 11 in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Bobby Williford and Reverend Danny Yates will officiate. Pallbearers will be Trenton Hannah, Elliott Hannah, Dallas Hannah, Timothy Yates, Billy Brantley and Bobby Sanders.
Mrs. Giles was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Ed Lanthrip and the late Mattie Smith Lanthrip. She was the wife of the late Rufus Giles and was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Bailey. Mrs. Giles was a nursing school graduate of Georgia Southwestern College and was a registered nurse. She was retired from Central State Hospital and had worked for Washington County Regional Medical Center and Smith Medical Care. She was a member of Kendall Heights Church of God.
Survivors are a son, Keith Prator and his wife Jamie of Lawrenceville; daughters, Susan Lamb and Jennifer Hannah both of Sandersville; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday until the hour of service.
