Sharon Denise Jones, age 60, passed away on December 31, 2024, at her home, following a valiant battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Audrey F. Jones and the late Wilbur L. Jones. A memorial service will be held at Sisters Baptist Church on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00am. Reverend Kevin Carter and Reverend Burt Parker will officiate. Sharon grew up in Washington County. She graduated from Brentwood School, class of 1982. She attended Georgia College and began working for the State of Georgia at the Department of Transportation in Tennille. Over the years, she obtained a degree from Georgia Southwestern University, and retired from Oconee Fall Line Technical College as Director of Human Resources. Sharon moved to Beaufort, South Carolina and held the same position at the Technical College of the Low Country in Beaufort.
Sharon returned to Sandersville and for many years enjoyed planning and coordinating weddings and other events. Alongside the staff of Warthen Lane Interiors, brides and grooms throughout the region were presented beautiful dream weddings through Sharon’s thoughtful, attentive and diligent insight.
Sharon’s “happy place” as she often referred to it, was any coastal area, most specifically the Low Country of South Carolina. When she was not planning trips and traveling as she also enjoyed, her days were spent being “Gigi” to her grandchildren in all the ways imaginable. As a part of a large and extended family, Sharon loved and adored her aunts, uncles and held her cousins close to her heart. She often organized and put together reunions and suppers just for them.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Anna Grace and husband, Clint Hartsfield of Milledgeville; Grandchildren, Madelyn Jane Pryor and Baylor Pryor; her mother, Audrey F. Jones of Sandersville; brothers, Andy Jones and his wife Shannon of Davisboro and Clint Jones and his wife, Denise of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces, Amanda Barkley and her husband Kent of Forsyth, and Hayden Jones; nephews, Tyler Jones and his wife Kate of Covington, and Ryan Jones; great nephews, Peyton Turner and Barrett Turner.
To honor Sharon’s battle with cancer and her service as a Board Member of the Pam Stewart Cancer Foundation, her family requests that donations be made to the Pam Stewart Cancer Foundation at www.pamstewartcf.com/donate/ or Casting for Recovery at www.castingforrecovery.org .
