Shirley L. Humphries

Shirley L. Humphries age 88, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15th at Ramah Cemetery with Rev. Gabby Loyd officiating.

Shirley was born in Bibb County on December 5, 1934, to Richard B. and Ethel Lavender. She grew up in the Bibb Mill Village of East Macon. In 1961, Shirley married Marvin L. Humphries.

She is survived by her three children Mitch Humphries (Denise), Cindy Minter (Mike Jones) and Steve Humphries (Traci). The grandchildren are Bennett Humphries and Collin Humphries (Kimberly) and step grandchildren Josh Adams (Mandy) and Casey Adams. Step great-grandchild Emma Adams.

Shirley served Twiggs County as Chief Magistrate Judge and worked within the elections office. She was also the owner and operator of Shirley’s Nursery, nurturing and growing flowers and vegetables. Shirley loved fishing and had Koi and Goldfish ponds which brought her much joy, late in life. Up until her death, Shirley would pick up pecans to shell and share with friends and family and was looking forward to it this year.

The family will receive friends following the service on Friday.
