Shirley Frances Jones Tucker

November 28, 1940 — December 16, 2021

Shirley Frances Jones Tucker, 81, of Albemarle passed away December 16, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family. Her Celebration of Life service will be 1 PM on Monday, December 20, 2021 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delane Burris and Rev. Mark Mabry officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle on Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 PM.

Born November 28, 1940 in Riddleville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Willie D. Jones and Lucille Cofield Jones, and beloved wife of Rev. James Tucker. She was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church and was a retired Middle School Teacher. Mrs. Tucker was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She led her high school basketball team to the Georgia State Championship in 1958, then known as Lil' Bit Jones. She loved solving complex math problems. She enjoyed gardening, she enjoyed personally renovating her homes, and she loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Mrs. Tucker was witty, funny, intelligent and kind and devoted her life to God, her family, and to teaching others. Although an unassuming woman, she was quick witted, with impeccable timing, and a sharp and fun sense of humor. She loved each of her grandchildren for their uniqueness and each of them had their own special name for her. Mrs. Tucker supported her husband's ministry in every possible way. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Jim Tucker of the home. Other survivors include daughter Rebecca Tucker Frick (Todd) of Norwood, son James David Tucker Jr. (Terry) of Oakboro, and daughter Mary Tucker Bigbee (Todd) of Overland Park, KS, sister Velma Veal of Wrightsville, GA, and 5 grandchildren Jake Tucker, Maggie Tucker, Nolan Stamper, Levi Stamper, and Riston Bigbee as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family wishes to give thanks to her friend and helper, Angie, and to Hospice of Stanly County for their compassionate and loving care of Mrs. Tucker. She was beloved by all.
