Mrs. Shirley Jean Jones Knowles, age 67, of 830 Mathis Road in Sandersville died Friday morning at her residence following an extended illness.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday June 22 in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The Rev. Roy Smith and the Rev. Dr. Jarrett Burch will officiate.
Mrs. Knowles was a life long resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late James Floyd Jones, Sr. and the late Gladys Chambers Jones. She was a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse for Washington Regional Medical Center for many years. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Eugene Knowles of Sandersville, her children, Deborah Withee of Corona Cal., Robert Floyd Knowles of East Dublin, Richard M. Knowles, Sr. of Sandersville, Tommy Eugene Knowles, Sr. of Martinez, Andrew L. Knowles of Sandersville, John S. Knowles, Sr. of Tennille, and Susan K. Porter of Harrison, thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and eleven step grandchildren, a brother, James F. Jones, Jr. of Warner Robins, a special granddaughter, Shelby Chandler, special friends, Beverly Lewis and Cindy McLester of Sandersville.
May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Knowles, Sr., 725 Mt. Gilead Church Road in Tennille and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday.
