Sidney J. Lambert

The Reverend Sidney J. Lambert, age 78, of Sparta, peacefully joined his Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016. A celebration of Sidney’s life, along with fellow saints, will be held at Sandersville United Methodist Church, Sunday, November 6, 2016, during the All Saint’s Day 11:00 morning worship service.

Born in Springfield, Ohio on August 2, 1938, Sidney was the son of the late Geoffrey G. and Adelia Jane Wilkins Lambert. In 1970 Sidney became an Ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church after graduating from the Boston University School of Theology. Throughout his 40 years of ministerial career, Sidney served four parishes in Vermont.

It was but a short 8 years ago, Sidney and Bonita took up residence in warm Sparta, Georgia, having retired from the ministry in 2002.

Sidney is survived by his cherished wife of 57 years, Bonita Johnson Lambert of Sparta, children Matthew and wife Carla of Pownal, Vermont; Elizabeth Jane Arena of Bristol, Vermont; Sarah Jane Lambert of San Diego, California; grandchildren Emily, Eric, Marie Elizabeth and Robyn.

Donations in Reverend Lambert’s memory may be made to the Music Department of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 611, Sandersville, Ga. 31082.
