Steven "Slick" L. Daniels

Danville – Mr. Steven “Slick” L. Daniels, age 66, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 22, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home.

Steven was born May 29, 1957, in Macon. He was the son of the late Lawton Alvin and Byrtis Maxine Yarborough Daniels. As a child, Steven spent a few years in Cochran before he and his family moved to Sandersville. At the age of 12 he moved back to Cochran. Steven was an entrepreneur and a contractor. He was the owner/operator of J&J Construction, Earthquake Sounds and Country Florist and Gifts. He also worked for Home Depot for a time. Steven loved to go to yard sales, flea markets and auctions. He would go all over Middle Georgia to browse, bid, buy or sell. He also loved Jekyll Island and the many trips he took with his family over the years.

One of Steven’s greatest accomplishments was his recovery from addiction. He was 36 years sober. He was a strong advocate for helping others who struggled with addiction. He volunteered at the Cochran Home Group for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. He would drive people to and from meetings, where he would talk, listen and help council them.

Steven was a family man. He loved his entire family, especially his grandchildren. He loved having them spend the weekend with he and his wife, Mrs. Peggy. A sign in his office reads, “Grandchildren welcomed, Adults by appointment only.”

Steven is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy C. Daniels of Danville; his sons, Jacob (Keshea) Daniels of Cochran and Joshua (Wendy) Daniels of Bonaire; his grandchildren, Kade (Nicole) Daniels, Clay Daniels, Avery Daniels, Lawton Daniels, Mayson Daniels, Bryden Daniels, Alexis Daniels and Emmalin Daniels; his great granddaughter, Hayven Daniels; his siblings, Charlotte (Jeff) Wallar, Miriam (Tony) Kitchens, Bonnie Harrison and Dawn (Chris) Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cochran Home Group, 146 Peter St, Cochran, GA 31014.

The family is at 926 Coley-Williams Rd, Danville and will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., Monday at Mathis Funeral Home.

After the services on Monday, the family will gather to celebrate Steven's life at the residence of Jacob and Keshea Daniels, 148 S Third St, Cochran, GA 31014.
