Stuart Anthony Pittman

Mr. Stuart Anthony Pittman, age 62, of Sandersville died Monday, September 18, 2017.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Piney Mount United Methodist Church.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Stuart was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County.  He was a graduate of Brentwood School and Southern Polytech where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering.  Stuart spent his career as a Registered Professional Engineer and retired from Thiele Kaolin as Chief Engineer.  Stuart possessed a great love of music.  He was an accomplished and passionate musician playing guitar, dobro and other stringed instruments.  Stuart was a lover of the outdoors and had recently enjoyed canoeing. Known as “Pop” by his grandchildren, Stuart most enjoyed being with his family.   He is predeceased by his sister, Karen Pittman Prince.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia DeLoach Pittman of Sandersville; sons, Judson McKenzie Pittman and his wife Bayley of Canton and Benjamin Thomas Pittman of Athens; grandchildren, Solomon Dalton Pittman and Zoe Isabel Pittman; and his parents, Billy and Freddie L. Pittman of Sandersville.
