Mrs. Sue Tannahill Jones Grabiak, age 83, of Sandersville died on Sunday morning September 13 in the Extended Care Facility in Sandersville following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday September 16 in the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. Reverend Dr. Joseph Buck IV will officiate.
Mrs. Grabiak was a native of Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late David Charles Tannahill and the late Evelyn Lewis Tannahill. She was a graduate of Georgia College with a degree in Art Education and Social Studies. She was a former counselor at the Washington State Prison for Women, where she taught a knitting class. She had been employed as a sales person for Rawlings Antiques and was a former book store owner. Mrs. Grabiak was a former art teacher at Carver Elementary School in Wadley. She was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, the Friendship Fellowship, the Women's Circle of the Church and the Mamie Tarbutton Circle.
Survivors are: her husband, Antony F. Grabiak of Sandersville; three sons, David Charles Jones of Bartow, Andrew Tannahill Jones of Carlsbad, New Mexico and John Ridgely Jones of Conyers; a stepdaughter, Susan Grabiak of Sandersville; a stepson, Jerry Grabiak of Sandersville; five grandchildren, Joshua Jackson Jones, Nicholas Tannahill Jones, Sarah Lindley Jones,Charles Ridgely Jones, Laura Beth Jones; and several cousins.
The family suggest donations be made to the Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library, P. O. Box 268, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
