Sybil Fowler

Mrs. Sybil Elton Fowler, age 89, of South Sparta-Davisboro Road, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018.   A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11 th at 11:00 a.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Rutherford Cemetery in Oconee.  Reverend Fred Garrett will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Jason Prince, Nathan Collins, Trey Garrett, Justin Cramer, Tommy Cowart and Terry Cowart.

Mrs. Fowler, was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County.  She was born and raised in Oconee, the daughter of the late Charles Owen Elton, and the late Mary Ann Yates Elton.  She was a homemaker and formerly worked for William Carter Company as well as for Chambers Cleaners.  She was a member of her childhood church, Oconee Church of God and she attended Downs Church of God.  Sybil was a talented seamstress, crafting clothes for her family including wedding dresses.  She loved to read and had a passion for animals, especially cats.   Mrs. Fowler is predeceased by her husband Robert Earl Fowler.

Survivors include: her children, Elaine F. Prince of Davisboro, Lynda F. Stamm of Macon and Timothy E. Fowler and his wife Kim of Clinton; grandchildren, Lori Ennis of Davisboro, Jason Prince and his wife Tiffany of Sandersville, Jamie Garrett of Davisboro, Mary Kathryn Carroll and her husband Jay of Macon, Rebecca Edwards of Macon, Elizabeth Haight and her husband Justin of Decatur, Heather Collins of Jefferson, Annabel Leigh Fowler of Houston TX., Chloe Fowler and Mary Peyton Fowler both of Gray; eleven great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; and brother, Charles Elton and his wife Joyce of Augusta.

The family will be at the Prince residence on South Sparta-Davisboro Road and they will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home and also following the funeral service on Saturday.
