Sylvia Joye Lane

Mrs. Sylvia Joye Lane, age 83, of Bartow-Dublin Road, Wrightsville, passed away at her residence on Monday, April 6, 2026. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Nathan Hodges and Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate. Mrs. Lane's family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Mrs. Lane was born in South Carolina, the daughter of the late Arthur Garfield Magruder and the late Gertrude Magruder Sanford. She graduated from historic Richmond Academy. Mrs. Lane worked for the Richmond County Board of Education where she served as Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. She enjoyed singing, cooking, and doing word searches. Mrs. Lane was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was diligent in her daily Bible study. She attended Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. Her greatest love was her family. Mrs. Lane is preceded in death by her husband, James Theron Lane; her granddaughter, Emily Waller; and her brother, Art Magruder.

Survivors include her children, Theron Marshall Lane and his wife Kim of Martinez, Scott Patrick Lane and his wife Christina of Anderson, SC., and Sherri Lane Waller and her husband Doug of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Hunter Lane, Shelby Puckett, Abbey Pittenger, Megan Lane, and Christine Lane; and 5 great grandchildren.
