Talmadge Lee "Teenie" Cook

August 5, 1935 — November 25, 2013

Mr. Talmadge Lee “Teenie” Cook, age 78, of Franklin Street in Tennille, died Monday, November 25, 2013. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille with the Reverend Jeff Cook officiating.


Mr. Cook was born in Laurens County the son of the late Jesse James Cook and the late Louise Fowler Cook. He obtained a bachelors and masters degree in education from Georgia Southern College and an education specialist degree from the University of Georgia. Mr. Cook’s career in education spanned 35 years and he retired as the principal of the Warren County Elementary School in Warrenton. He was an avid wood worker, making screen doors, windows and furniture. In retirement, he operated Lee’s Hobby Shop and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Cook was a member of the Tennille United Methodist Church and he was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. His grandson, Charles Lee Cook and his brother, Owen Jackson Cook predeceased him.


Survivors are his wife for over 52 years, Ann Purvis Cook of Tennille; sons, James Allen Cook and his wife Lisa of Pennsylvania and Michael Lee Cook of Tennille; grandchildren, Jessica Cook, Brandy Cook, Joshua Cook, Tyler Cook and Kristen Cook; and one great-granddaughter, Trista Lankford.


The family will be at their home on Franklin Street in Tennille. They will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
