Mr. Ted M. Boatright Jr., age 78, of Tennille, died Monday, October 18, 2021 following a brief illness. A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Danita Knowles and Reverend Randall Smith will officiate.
Ted was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Ted M. Boatright Sr. and the late Hilda Scarborough Boatright. He was reared in Tennille and graduated from Washington County High School in 1962. That same year, Ted served his country during the Berlin Crises in the National Guard. He began his working career in Warner Robins prior to working 40 plus years for Burgess Pigment where he retired as company vice president and plant manager. During retirement, Ted continued his work with Burgess serving on its Board of Directors as well as serving on the Oconee Fall Line Foundation Board. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog, NASCAR fan and former Dixie League baseball coach. Ted loved hunting and fishing, especially on Lake Sinclair. He was a member of the Twin City Country Club for nearly 50 years. He cherished time spent chasing grandchildren in their sporting endeavors.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ellen Williams Boatright; children, Derek Boatright and his wife Cindy of Sandersville, Vicki B. Brantley and her husband Joey of Tennille; grandchildren, Steven Boatright and his wife Carli, Jacob Burgamy, Jessica Boatright and Dillon Boatright; great grandson, Hunter Boatright; brother, Mack Boatright and his wife Mary of Tennille, and brother-in-law, Bill Butler of Sandersville; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the Boatright home at 73 Club Forest Drive. They will greet friends following the service in the cemetery.
