Thelma Lorene Tanner

Mrs. Thelma Lorene Tanner, age 89, of 2764 Highway 242 in Sandersville died Thursday March 18 in the Heritage Inn following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday March 21 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. Larry Glover and Rev. Phil Wallace will officiate with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Pallbearers will be Lewis Josey, Bob Titsworth, Eugene Prosser, Mike Franklin, Tim Franklin, Wayne Veal, Tyler Prosser and Kyle Prosser.

Mrs. Tanner was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Alvie Watson Tanner and the late Ezzie Pearl Hawk Tanner. She was the wife of the late Melvin Lamar Tanner. Mrs. Tanner was a retired employee of the Holmes Canning Company and a homemaker. She was a member of the Tennille Church of God.

Survivors are her two daughters, Catherine Tanner Hiller and her husband Ray of Martinez and Rachel Tanner Josey and her husband Verlon of Sandersville, three grandchildren, Eugene Prosser, Melvina Josey Titsworth and Lewis Josey, seven great grandchildren, Tyler Prosser, Kyle Prosser, Brandon Josey, Hunter Goodson, Evan Josey, Rachel Ann Josey and Conner May.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Saturday.
