Mr. Theron Lane, age 80, of Bartow-Dublin Road, Wrightsville, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, following an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Joe Crosby will officiate. Mr. Lane's family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
James Theron Lane was born on February 18, 1943 in Augusta, Georgia, the son of the late James Fred Lane and the late Erma Hazel Herrington Lane. He graduated from historic Richmond Academy, where he excelled in football. He attended the University of Georgia to play football until an injury forced him to cease playing. He immediately began a long working career in the power industry, beginning as a lineman for Georgia Power Company. Later Mr. Lane transferred to Jefferson EMC where he retired as a substation supervisor. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon, and he also attended Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Lane had a passion for deer hunting, and loved the outdoors. Camping and woodworking were some of his favorite hobbies. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lane is predeceased by his granddaughter, Emily Grace Waller and brother, Sheldon Lane.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joye Magruder Lane; children, Theron Marshall Lane and his wife Kim of Martinez, Scott Patrick Lane and his wife Christina, of Anderson, SC., and Sherri Lane Waller and her husband Doug of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Megan Lane, Marshall Hunter Lane, Christine Lane, Shelby Raye Puckett and Abigail Elizabeth Pittenger; and five great grandchildren.
